Why a Health Retreat

Have you ever wondered if a health retreat can help you?

Well the answer is simply YES it can!

Most of our guests know that to lose weight you need to eat less and move more but the hardest part of that equation is actually doing it.

While everyday life can put you into some tricky to handle situations (office birthdays, kids, stress, work) a retreat can help you work out the best way to juggle it all while still enjoying life – which is the most important thing of all!

Getting away from your bad habits and spending some time to focus just on yourself will allow you to focus on what is really important – YOU!!

While you are at the retreat it really is all about you! You will enjoy some really healthy yet amazingly delicious food (none of it is considered rabbit food so don’t worry you won’t go hungry!)

Spend some time improving your fitness with trainer instructed classes, where you will enjoy so many different forms of exercise. You may have done some of these in the past or they could
be completely new to you but either way the trainers will be there to help you every step of the way! You could be doing some great gym work, some empowering boxing sessions or even an aqua class.

The seminars are the most beneficial part of the retreat. They will help you deal with subjects like emotional & binge eating, nutrition, motivation – and all the other things which might have stopped you achieving success in the past.

Having that support there and knowing that you are not alone really is the key to being successful and that is why so many people choose to go to a health retreat.

If you are struggling to get your life under control then why not visit a Health Retreat!

Plan

Plan your way to success

Organisation is the most important way to succeed in your health and fitness goals.
Now is the time to be honest – how organised are you really?

Do you have a meal plan?

The easiest way to stick to a new and healthy menu is to work it out at least a week in advance, that way you can see that it is well balanced and incorporates all of the food groups. Make sure you put your snacks and treats on there as well. If you are eating out ensure you fill that out as well.

Do you have a shopping list or do you go to the shops with no idea what you really need?
Once you have done your meal plan it easily transfers over to a shopping list. If you go to the shop unprepared it opens you up to some much temptation – it’s the same as going to the shops hungry!

Now for your kitchen cupboards

It’s really time to throw away all the junk for in your cupboards and fridge – I know many of you think it is a waste of food but which waste would you prefer it to go to – if it’s not the waste bin it will be your waist line so it’s your choice!

If you are going to be tempted by any food in the house that you know is not good for you then get rid of it. You are sabotaging yourself!!

So now you have your kitchen all set up ready to for success it’s time to have a look at your clothes

It’s much easier to exercise when you feel good in the clothes you are wearing. Buy some nice workout clothes – they don’t need to be expensive just something that makes you feel good.
Once you have your new clothes organise you r closet. Get rid of any clothes that are too big for you – you don’t want to have them there are a fall back option. If you have something that is a bit too small for you bring it to the front of the closet so that you see it every day and it is a great reminder of why you’re changing your lifestyle.

Remember the more you plan and organise yourself the more successful you will be.

Emotional Eating

Emotional Eating and Weight Loss

Everybody emotionally eats at some point, some just do it more often than others and some do it for every emotion!!

Not matter what you do it for the process is still the same

  1. Trigger – What is your trigger – is it stress from work or family, is it sadness or loneliness?
  2. Eat – When you eat is it is the same food that you reach for each time you have an emotion?
  3. Guilt – Once we feel guilty about eating generally we will eat again because we feel guilty!

Many people do not even realize they are eating for an emotional reason until it is too late and the plate full of food is already gone. If this sounds like you then take some time to think back over the last few days or weeks and the meals you have eaten. Think about why you have chosen the foods you did – where there emotions behind them? Once you start to recognize why you are eating it will make it much easier for you to make better choices.

When we eat we are generally feeding 1 of 3 things

  • Your Body – if this is the case the food is generally healthier
  • Your emotional body or your soul – generally the bad food
  • Your mind – can be either good or bad food

Let’s look at how we can slow the process down and make some changes to your emotional eating patterns

  1. Trigger –What are you avoiding – which emotion is it?Try something else eg go for a walk, read a bookCan you afford it – if you eat this food will it put you over your calorie count for the day (remember if you want to lose weight you have to eat less calories than you are burning)
  2. Eat –Try to eat something healthierCan you make a better version of the food you want to have (healthy homemade pizza)
  3. Guilt –Was it worth it?Can you account for it? Can you work out the next day a little extra or can you improve your meal plan for the next day or so. Also most of the time it is actually a lot better than we make it out to be and the calories we are eating are not as much as we thought!Decide that it is ok!!

If you can tell yourself that emotional eating is ok it will help with the rebellious nature we have inside!!

Being aware that you are eating for an emotional reason really is the first step in controlling it.

You are in charge of your emotions don’t let them control you!!
